Brief History of City Parts

The owners of City Parts, Glen and Donna Ford, started with Central Wreckers located in the Brisbane inner city suburb of Windsor in 1982. Central was an all makes all models dismantler, in the ensuing years a second yard was established as a specialist dismantler. After trying a few different makes and models Commodore Wreckers was born. Around this time Glen's brothers had bought Pick-A-Part located at Zillmere, the Pick-A-Part site was divided up with 4 businesses located on the site. Glen and Donna moved Commodore to Zillmere in the early 1990's. Over the next 5-6 years Glen and Donna bought Mitsubishi Wrecking, Ford Wreck and Pick-A-Part which were all located at the Zillmere site. Wreckers City was then formed with 5 specialist sites covering 6 brands. Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden (Commodore Wreckers), Toyota (Central), Nissan and Mazda (Pick-A-Part).

In 2000 Central was moved to the Zillmere site and the entire specialist offices shifted to one counter at the Zillmere site. Wreckers City became a full service dismantler processing all makes and models.

In 2003 Wreckers City joined the Parts Plus group and became City Parts Plus.

Glen and Donna have always ensured that City Parts used cutting edge technology where ever possible. With a computerised inventory system and real time access to trading partner's inventory, City Parts have been able to supply quality parts and service throughout their history.

City Parts have a long history of active involvement in all industry bodies and forums, with Glen holding board positions with the MTAQ.

The same commitment given by Glen and Donna as they started their journey as Central Wreckers holds true today "City Parts are committed to the continual supply of quality OEM used parts to the repair industry."
